Up here he problem is people are a food source. To polar bears everything that moves is food. a empty stomach may be indicitive of a bear that recentlylost his territory to a competitor. Although in the late fall before freeze up most of the bears haven't eaten in weeks. Due to the mild winter near churchill this year, It is going to be a bad summer for bears, they eat through the winter to build up fat for calving and to get throe the summer on the land. Also now that chuchill doesn't have a dump (all thier garbage is being sent by train to Thompson)Curtis Groomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13062243567952569272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18105028.post-1142009561729414682006-03-10T09:52:00.000-07:002006-03-10T09:52:00.000-07:00Regarding what Sir Paul had to say on Larry King -...Regarding what Sir Paul had to say on Larry King - he should get all the facts instead of taking an opportunity for publicity. White seals have been off limits for more than 40 years and seals today are killed by rifle. Those taking them do use them and it's not as if they just do it for sport -- it's a living!!!
Recently, I was listening to an interview about life in the north and was struck by the fact that when someone was attacked by a polar bear, then shot, upon opening the bear, they discovered that its stomach was empty. I guess we humans may be part of the problem. The wild animals are losing their habitat, due in part to global warming and are only looking to survive.
I guess that is my two cents worth.
