Jack Creek
Sixty miles up the Red River from Tsiigehtchic.Canada GooseThe goose gave up triing to evade us and just hid from us. Pretty good camo, do you see him?We walked up jack creek to find a moose rich environment, however we found a mosquito rich environment instead. If you count the mosquito's on this side of Albert's head you'll find about fifty.Lots of birds filled in for the lack of moose on this tripThis is a young peregrine falcon.

That top picture looks like the goose is being attacked by something else. ;)
I don't think that is a Peregrine, it appears to be a buteo, probably a Rough-legged Hawk, but I'm not sure.
Ok, I wasn't actually sure of the species since it is still in its 1st colors. The wings and tail look too big for a peregrine however the head looks very much like a Peregrine. What made me assume its identity was that it was within half a mile of a known Peregrine nest and headed that way.
You know I just went back and looked at it again in original size, and I think your right. The head certainly could be a hawk. I stand corrected. Thank-you.
